Recruiting and Selection of New Faculty

God continues to open doors for IGSL to build leaders for transformation. We can only embrace new opportunities if we have the manpower capacity to carry out the tasks of our current programs as well as the new ones - that means our faculty team has to keep growing. It is a joy to see how God keeps bringing the right people, with the right gifts and training, at the right time.

Overview of Recruitment Procedure for Full-time or Associate Faculty — IGSL cannot exist, succeed, or excel without qualified DNA-aligned faculty. In order to help ensure the IGSL faculty are called to, competent for, and passionate about IGSL we have designed the following general procedure for accepting new full-time faculty.

1. Initial Screening  The LDHR Director, in collaboration with the strategic team director to which the potential faculty would be reporting to, will initially screen the applicant through his/her C.V. and/or informal interview in person or online.

2. Application & Referencing — LDHR will send the application link to the potential faculty.

3. Immersion Team  The LDHR team member assigned to this role will oversee the faculty applicant’s orientation, adjustment (professionally, culturally, and domestically), assessment while at IGSL for ideally three to five weeks. At the end of the immersion period, an “exit” interview will be given by select members of the LDHR team.

4. Interview Team — The LDHR Team will assign impartial interviewers to do this. This can be administered during a faculty immersion or at another time or online.

5. Recommendation Team — The LDHR Director, with collaboration from potential team leaders, will present to the LT the result of the applicant’s evaluation.

6. Faculty Affirmation — Upon Leadership Team approval, the applicant(s) are presented to faculty at large for an affirmation from the faculty team.

7. IGSL Board Approval — Once faculty have given their final input and affirmation, the faculty will be presented to the Board for final approval.

LDHR Responsibilities — The LDHR team is responsible for setting up the recruitment procedures, establishing policies and overseeing the recruitment process. Included in their overall responsibilities are providing needed recruitment material and orienting/training faculty to the overall process of faculty recruitment.

Faculty Responsibilities — Faculty members are also expected to be involved in the recruitment process by:

(1) providing contacts of potential faculty

(2) participating in faculty interviews and

(3) assisting in the immersion experience of potential faculty

(4) helping in the transition period (1 year) of new faculty when they enter IGSL.

Academic Discipline Chair Responsibilities — Discipline Chairs are involved from the beginning of the recruitment process of faculty who are applying to teach in their department. These responsibilities include:

(1) an informal interview with the potential faculty to get to know him/her and to orient him/her to the teaching philosophy/opportunities available at IGSL

(2) helping coordinate the immersion experience at IGSL

(3) being a member of the official faculty interview

(4) participating in the post-immersion interview

Adjunct Faculty Recruiting — The LP Director is responsible to recruit and approve adjunct faculty following guidelines set in coordination with LDHR. Once an adjunct faculty has been approved, the LP team should:

(1) orient/train the adjunct faculty to IGSL teaching philosophy and policies

(2) assess the teaching abilities and effectiveness of the faculty

(3) affirm his/her capability to continue as an adjunct

(4) inform LDHR of any adjunct faculty who demonstrate the ability and DNA to succeed and excel at IGSL that should be challenged for associate or full-time faculty.
