Student Life
IGSL conducts a variety of activities for the whole community. Full-time faculty members are expected to attend the Community Chapel Time (every Tuesday, 12:00-12:50 p.m.). Attendance at Community Prayer Time every Friday is highly encouraged. A number of other events happen during the course of the year. Some are planned and some are spontaneous.

The Community Chapel Time every Tuesday is the only time during the week when all faculty, students and staff come together. The Student Body Leadership Team coordinates the Chapel Time. Speakers are usually our own faculty or alumni, but other guest speakers may be invited as well. The Chapel Time may also include worship and prayer.

The Community Prayer Time every Friday is led by different Strategic Teams and departments on a rotating basis. The team leading the Prayer Time has the freedom to be creative in setting up the prayer activities.

The IGSL Community Retreat is held in second semester each year. It is a required activity for all degree and PIM students enrolled in ISG. Many students bring their families as well. It is a quality time for building relationships among students, faculty, and staff. All full-time faculty members are expected to attend unless they have received permission for an exemption.
Other events during the year where full-time faculty member involvement is expected include Family Time in August, the October Worldwide Day of Prayer, the Day with the Lord each term, the IGSL Christmas party, the Spiritual Retreat, the Graduation Banquet, and the Graduation Ceremony. Exemption from any activity needs to be cleared with the LDHR Director.

Why do we insist on faculty participation in these events? It’s because your presence matters! You are part of the community, and simply by being there, listening, smiling, talking, asking, praying, noticing – you make “community” happen. Your presence honors the rest of the community.

Aside from the events for the whole community, faculty have some “faculty-only” events to enjoy. In July, before the new school year begins, a Faculty Gathering is held for the purpose of faculty alignment for the new year, as well as some times of encouragement, bonding and refreshment. All faculty gather for a Faculty Meeting once a month, Strategic Team meetings once a month, and the annual Faculty Christmas Party.
