Teaching Guidelines

All instructors—whether full-time, adjunct, or visiting—are expected to be familiar with and follow the policies contained here for the course(s) for which they are responsible. The information in this online Faculty Handbook supplements the current school catalog, related supplements, the current Student Handbook and memos released after these materials were published. When necessary, instructors should reference the LP portions of these publications, where indicated, as foundational to what is explained in this online handbook. No instructor may deviate from the policies contained here without LP approval since factors beyond that considered by an individual instructor are usually involved. Requests for policy changes may be addressed to the appropriate member of the Leadership Programs Team—composed of the LP Administrative Assistants, the LP Director, Academic Dean, Program Directors, Discipline Chairs for various academic disciplines (Biblical Studies [BS], Intercultural Studies [ICS], Leadership Studies [LS], Theological Studies [TS], and Educational Studies ([ES]), and other faculty members—who can effectively represent the request for review and consideration.

The following academic terms are used at IGSL as required by the Philippine Commission on Higher Education (CHED). “Course” refers to the entire academic package including instruction, homework, labs, and testing that fulfills the designated academic load. “Class” refers to a daily session that fulfills an aspect of the course.
