FACULTY REPORTING

The primary reporting relationship of each faculty member is his or her Strategic Team Leader. The Strategic Team Leader is responsible for finalizing the job description of each faculty member. In a dynamic environment like IGSL, numerous needs arise that are not addressed by any of the Strategic Teams. In such a situation, ad hoc committees are formed to handle these needs. Faculty members may be called upon in certain situations to serve in such a capacity.

FACULTY TIME COMMITMENTS

1. Full-Time Faculty Full-time faculty members are expected to devote forty (40) hours to IGSL related activities. Relevant activities include teaching (in leadership development programs, initiatives, and extension), ISG, TAM, Great Commission ministry, leadership/team responsibilities, ministry partner development (MPD) and ad hoc committees.

Great Commission Ministry. In order for faculty to model a Great Commission ministry of evangelism and discipleship, four (4) hours can be counted weekly for each full-time faculty. Great Commission ministry should seek to develop movements of evangelism and discipleship and may take many forms—church-based, marketplace-based, or community-based. Ministry, though critical for faculty credibility and relevance, should not hinder faculty from fulfilling other IGSL responsibilities. Thus, in order to help ensure IGSL faculty are succeeding at IGSL, they should devote at least thirty-six (36) hours to other related IGSL responsibilities (depending on family and other considerations).

Ministry Partner Development (MPD). Maintaining a healthy relationship with ministry partners must be a priority for all supported faculty. As part of our commitment to faculty succeeding in this area, two (2) hours weekly (eight hours monthly) should be set aside for ministry development, including writing prayer letters, making phone calls, and sending emails. Further explanation of MPD is found in the section, Ministry Partner Development.

Faculty Spouses. Spouses of full-time faculty that are not teaching in the degree programs are also considered full-time faculty. They are expected to participate in at least one of the four areas of involvement of IGSL – degree programs, leadership development initiatives, administrative positions, or PIM programs. In addition, like all faculty, they should have a personal GC ministry. Wives with minor children (ages 17 and below) are encouraged to devote at least 8 hours to IGSL, including personal ministry. Wives with adult children (18 and above) or with no children at home are expected to be involved in IGSL for an equivalent of at least 32 hours, including ministry.

2. Associate Faculty Associate faculty members are expected to devote sixteen to twenty (16-20) hours weekly to IGSL related activities. Relevant activities include teaching (In leadership development programs, initiatives, and extension), ISG, TAM, Great Commission ministry, leadership/team responsibilities, Ministry Partner Development (MPD) and ad hoc committees. The exact nature of the activities within the 16-20 hours depends largely on the specific gifting and calling of the individual faculty.

Great Commission Ministry. Associate faculty are expected to model a Great Commission ministry of evangelism and discipleship that seeks to develop movements of evangelism and discipleship.

Ministry Partner Development (MPD). Associate faculty who have ministry partners should maintain a healthy relationship with ministry partners. Adequate time should be set aside for ministry development, including writing prayer letters, making phone calls, and sending emails. Further explanation of MPD is found here.

Faculty Spouses. Non-faculty spouses of associate faculty have no required time commitments to IGSL. They are, however, encouraged and welcome to be involved in areas of gifting and passion as time permits.

3. Adjunct and Visiting Faculty IGSL has no time demands on adjunct or visiting faculty. The expectation is to fulfill the agreed teaching responsibilities according to teaching standards and deadlines. Both adjunct and visiting faculty are , however, welcome to participate in ISGs and TAMs if they desire and time permits.

4. Affiliate Faculty Affiliate faculty have an ongoing relationship with IGSL, typically serving in one or more key areas. He/she must meet the faculty character standards as outlined in the IGSL Code of Conduct. A minimum of 5 – 10 hours per week on average is their commitment to IGSL (Some weeks could be higher or lower, but 20 hours a month on average including work from home).

RESPONSIBILITIES OUTSIDE OF IGSL Faculty members are expected to be involved in a local church. However, the professional ministry responsibility of full-time IGSL faculty members is to the school. Thus, full-time faculty members involved in church ministry are advised not to take primary responsibility for the church. Faculty members serving on a pastoral staff or other church leadership positions that demands significant time investment should only consider four (4) hours of their church ministry as part of IGSL related activities.
